1993 NASCAR Winston Cup Series (Start Your Engines!)
The 1993 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Season was the 45th season of professional stock car racing in the United States and the 22nd modern-era Cup season. The season began on February 7 and ended on November 21.
1993 was marked by near-tragedy, when Alan Kulwicki, travelling to Bristol in a corporate jet belonging to his sponsor, Hooters, was involved in a close call when the jet went into a steep dive, though fortunately, one of the other passengers aboard was a pilot who had seen this scenario before, hijacked the plane, brought it out of its dive, and safely landed it.
The season also saw the introduction of electronic scoring, giving instantaneous interval numbers.
This was the first season without NASCAR legend Richard Petty since 1957.
