Rhythm Radio is an American Radio Network jointly owned by Hearst Communications and Mutual Media is headquartered in Burbank, CA

The network broadcasts music programming oriented towards pre-teens and young teenagers, focusing mainly on current hit music and a heavy emphasis on teen idols; compared to most CHR stations, Rhythm Radio is far more aggressive in playing only current hits and eschews recurrent rotation.

History

Rhythm Radio was founded on September 7, 1980 in Ten Markets including New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Chicago, IL, San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA, Minneapolis, MN, Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, Salt Lake City, UT the first song being played was "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles however the playlist featured Pop Hits as well as Disco and Dance Music as well as a number Show Choir and Choir Drill Songs from various levels from High School and College.

A Nationwide Roll Out Occured the following month with 50 Stations affiliating including 25 of the Top 25 Markets with an Expected 80 Stations by 1982. Rhythm Radio purchased KWFT-AM in Wichita Falls, TX under a surprise move.

Rhythm Radio had used Jingles done by JAM Creative Productions however Most Rhythm Radio Stations currently uses "New York Fan" which was used since 1990 & "The American Fan" which was used since 2014 respectively.
